Avedøre Wastewater Services ensures that the   wastewater from an urban area measuring 400 km2 is thoroughly treated before being released to the recipient, Køge Bay, thus benefiting the aquatic environment and a recreational beach area that is visited by 750,000 people a year.

The company's responsibilities mainly comprise the operation and maintenance of wastewater and sludge incineration facilities corresponding to 345,000 person-equivalents, and the operation of the main lines, pumping stations and rainwater reservoirs for a 2,300 km pipe network.The company receives and treats roughly 25 million m3 of wastewater annually.

As an extension of these activities, the company's knowledge centre provides consulting, coordinating and informational services to stakeholder municipalities, inhabitants and organisations within our line of business .

Avedøre Wastewater Services (AWS) is a municipal company jointly owned by 10 municipalities 10 km west of Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark.
